Railroads were huge to the cattle industry. With the development of railroads it allowed cattle to be transported to markets. Then when they came up with refrigerated rail carriages it allowed the cattle to be slaughtered before the transport and be refrigerated on the train. So in the end railroads changed the cattle industry in a huge way.
